Properties of sesame seed

The sesame seeds (Sesamun indicum) is the world's oldest oil seed. In Mesopotamian, India, Egypt, China and Greece, its seeds are highly appreciated as a delicious food and energy. Widely cultivated in the countries of the Middle East and in India, its cultivation is widespread in tropical and subtropical regions.
It is a herbaceous plant of the family of Pedaliáceas, which reaches up to 1.5 meters in height. Its fruits are capsules containing various flat seeds ranging from 2 to 5 mm in length. The seeds are usually brown, although there are also white, red and black. There is a wide variety of sesame seeds which are grown in Mexico, which are used depending on the soil conditions of each state.
